Héctor is Design Director at Knight Architects and a bridge designer with a worldwide reputation. His foremost aim as a designer during his 25-year career has been to create bridges that improve the quality of the built world. In this time, he has been meaningfully involved in every stage of the bridge project lifecycle, from conception to completion. This extensive expertise, combined with his commitment to beauty and excellence and his academic background in structural engineering, has enabled him to conceive numerous award-winning bridges that simultaneously focus on place, people, and the planet, while also addressing their technical challenges. Héctor was awarded the prestigious IABSE Prize 2016 and the RIBA Honorary Fellowship 2025 in recognition of his integrated, holistic approach to bridge design. He has contributed to the bridge industry by writing more than eighty articles and papers, has participated as a speaker and member of the scientific committee at numerous conferences, and frequently acts as a jury member in infrastructure and architecture Awards.
