In her career spanning just over five and a half years, she has already been in UK-wide industry awards finals twice, showing her ambitious and trailblazing nature. She is an accomplished consulting bridge engineer at Amey, having taken up several key roles in often technically complex and fast-paced structures projects within Scotland. She extensively participates in outreach campaigns with several bodies the including the ICE and IET, which shows her unwavering commitment to inspiring future engineers and achieving gender parity within the industry.

Matthew demonstrates exceptional progress through technical excellence and organizational leadership. Appointed as the youngest Associate Director in Hewson's history, he achieved IStructE chartership in just three years, while maintaining project delivery across complex infrastructure schemes. Currently leading independent checking for HS2 N1/N2 composite viaducts, Matthew has implemented innovative analytical approaches while developing the capabilities of our team. Camille Chevrier's contributions to Format Engineers are outstanding, not only technically and economically, but also socially. She leads research into recycled materials and has applied that with tenacity and flair to the delivery of the first bridge in the UK with a significant proportion of repurposed steel. She is passionate about supporting women in engineering and regularly talks to local schools. Her design skill, calm persona and technical knowledge gained on bridge schemes across the UK and abroad is sought after by academia with tutoring at Bath University, Reading, Bath Spa, Oxford Brookes and Ecole des Pont in Paris.

Callum leads the Technical Approval team, acting on behalf of Essex County Council to review and approve all structures development on the Essex highway network. He has been influential in his efforts to promote a collaborative culture with designers and developers, ensuring early engagement and supporting delivery. A vocal advocate for sustainable solutions, Callum helped the company to achieve PAS2080 certification, embedding a low carbon culture into the design, construction and asset management processes. He is passionate about the role of public speaking in the industry and is currently forming a Toastmasters club for individuals working in the Bridges Industry.

In his career to date, Dan has shown a blend of engineering understanding and project management skills, allowing him to successfully lead in the Principal Contractor role and yet deliver specialist bridge repair and protection work with in house resources. Delivering Right First Time with Zero Harm in challenging working environments. Dan possess all the attributes to be a future leader in the development and delivery of Bridge Repair, Strengthening and Protection schemes. We have an expectation that Dan will be Chartered Engineer and will progress to a Project Manager position in the next few years.

Kasun has demonstrated technical excellence, leadership, and innovation. As a regional Lead delivering high-profile projects, Kasun has shown the ability to deliver complex projects with large teams. Kasun's PhD and numerous publications highlight his contribution to knowledge. Kasun corrected industry practices and developed a pre-straining tool with an ambitious fibre optic monitoring project that won awards. Kasun mentored the next generation of engineers and obtained ICE Chartership and PMP qualifications. Supported by WSP, Kasun has achieved significant career milestones and contributed to sustainability and advancing the industry. Kasun aims to become a global expert in extending the life of bridges.

Mohamed is an outstanding bridge engineer at WCS, demonstrating exceptional technical expertise, leadership, and sustainability-driven innovation. His role in the Downs Overbridge project, where he optimized design for cost and carbon efficiency, highlights his problem-solving abilities. In March 2025, he was promoted to Senior Structural Engineer, leading the Bridge Structures team for the Uxbridge Moor Substation for National Grid. Mohamed is a passionate mentor, leading training on sustainable engineering and supporting STEM initiatives. His commitment to excellence, proactive leadership, and vision for the future of bridge engineering makes him a standout candidate for the NCE Bridge Engineer Rising Star.

In just over 3.5 years since graduating from university Guy received two promotions and passed his ICE Incorporated Professional Review. Upon joining the M25 J10 project Guy’s desire to capture learning, innovate and make improvements was clear.
Senior team members moving projects provided opportunities for Guy to assume more responsibility, which he embraced, by successfully leading the construction of Cockcrow Bridge, using the experience gained and lessons learnt from his involvement on previous bridges on the scheme.
Guy has a bright future ahead of him and deserves this award in recognition of his impressive journey so far.
Beth Winterbottom

Based in WSP Brimingham office, Beth is a high-performing member of the Engineering Project management team. Joining the business 4 years ago under a degree apprenticeship, she has excelled in her role and recently attained full membership of the Association of Project Managers. She has massively exceeded expectations and works well above her grade; specifically, as a Project Manager delivering framework projects for key UK clients including Network Rail and National Highways.
More recently, Beth was selected as part of the WSP Global Team to take part in Bridges to Prosperity build in Rwanda during October'24.
