Fred Hartley is the principal highway structures engineer for the Canal & River Trust. He is responsible for the strategic asset management of the Trust’s 2970 bridges which have an estimated average age of 160 years. He has 35 years’ experience in the industry gained in the public, private and charitable sectors. Fred is a Chartered Engineer and Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers. He is also a member of the Reservoir Supervising Engineers Panel. Innovation is vital for Civil Engineers. It helps Fred and the Trust manage historic infrastructure efficiently and safely for 21st Century use.
