Rachel has worked as a Bridge Engineer at Atkins for 14 years. She has led the technical aspects of a wide range of exciting bridge design, assessment and refurbishment projects in the UK and overseas. Her first project with Atkins as a graduate from Cambridge University was assessment and replacement of the cables on the 225m span Penang Bridge. Since then she has designed bridges for the London Olympic Park and Hong Kong MTR, and worked on assessment and repairs for bridges on the M25 and in Sweden. Rachel led the development of Eurocode traffic loading for Hong Kong, is a member of the BSI Bridge Loading working group and prepared a reliability based reduced partial factor assessment methodology for Highways England. Most recently she has led the design of the 118m span gateway bridge on the A465 HOV2 project.
