Kevin is Chief Bridge Engineer responsible for a large in-house consultancy within Devon County Council and leads a team of 40 Engineers and technicians who undertake all aspects of bridge management and design. Devon has over 3000 highway bridges and 1700 retaining walls with a combined asset value of well over £1.3 billion. Kevin graduated from Plymouth in 1984, gained chartered status in 1988 and became a Fellow of the ICE in 2016.  Kevin is Chairman of the ADEPT Bridges Group, a member of the UK Bridges Board and the Bridge Owners Forum and has been active on several project steering groups overseeing the development of industry guidance documents such as CIRIA C742 (Manual on scour at bridges and other hydraulic structures) and the recently published C778 (Management of safety critical fixings). In relation to this event’s topic Kevin has 25 years’ experience of bridge inspections and his group undertakes over 1500 inspections a year.
