Arran is a technical specialist with over 22 years successful delivery in all stages of bridge construction. Graduating from the University of Manchester, he started his career with specialist heavy steelwork fabricator Fairfield Mabey, before joining Costain in 2006. Since then he has driven bridging solutions through concept development, design, fabrication and delivery phases on complex major projects such as A465 HOV2 (12 bridge structures), Hammersmith Flyover Refurbishment (Ph2), the multi award-winning Walton Bridge (incl. a landmark 100m span thrust arch over the Thames) and A34 Wolvercote Viaduct (with a 250m long, 5000t bridge deck slid sideways overnight). Most recently he led a team providing considered construction, logistics and costing consultancy to TfL, influencing the design development of a proposed world-beating lift bridge between Canary Wharf and Rotherhithe. Arran is an active member of the Steel Bridge Group – a consortium of national experts providing best practice guidance to address industry challenges and promote improvement.
